The Renaissance Festival
Ms.Vallieu’s ENG IV students went to the Renaissance Festival on September 30, 2010. The Renaissance Festival lasted the whole day. The Renaissance workers dressed in Renaissance costume. They were speaking Middle English the whole time we were there. There were a ton of games, and rides. Students chose from lots of different food like pizza, turkey legs, and hamburgers.
There was a joust. A joust is a fight; they dress in full armor, and ride on a horse with a wooden pole. They gallop toward each other. The main goal is to knock the other person of the horse, or kill the other person. The last person standing is the winner.
There was a Beowulf play, where the actors were slinging mud into the audience. One of the actors put mud on a few of the people in the first few rows. Ja’Ron Lewis was afraid he would get mud on him. He was ready to run for his life! After the play, a few of the students went to walk around the park. Several of the students used the festival as an opportunity to sample Renaissance fashions. DeVaughn Denmark, and Ja’Ron Lewis bought fake lip rings. Nate Lowe had is fortune read. He was told that he was going to be very famous, and wealthy. Lowe ran out yelling “YO, YO, YEAH!” He was so excited! Landon Ramsey complained that it was too hot the whole time we were at the festival.
Over all, the Renaissance Festival was fun. A lot of students had fun. It was a nice to get out of the school and experience another time.
