Our robotics team, Horizon Hawks participated in regional FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) competition on Saturday, December 9, 2017. They completed project judging and the robot game during the day. Our team got the 2nd place out of 12 teams and they advanced to district finals. District finals will be at WSU on January 6, 2018.
Throughout the year, students designed and programmed robot to autonomously solve a set of missions. In addition, they studied and prepared a project on ‘Hydro Dynamics’ all about water-how we find, transport, use, or dispose of it. Our team focused on “lack of drinking water around the world especially in Africa”. Our students found two major solutions for this problem. 1) Building water wells. 2) Water generators from the air.
Beside learning programming the robot and working on the project, our students also learned how to work together as a team. They learn how to collaborate and solve complex tasks in a creative way. They equipped with the idea of team spirit.
Congratulations to our team members: Aundree Smith, Anthony Gladney, Michael Mallory, Daniel McIntosh, Malik McCarty, Da-vonte White, Colton Coey, and their coaches Mr. Keman and Mr. Toprak.
