Re: Reopening announcement

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope that you and your family are doing well, staying healthy, and enjoying the summer months.

We have been busy working on how to reopen our schools with a high priority on student and staff safety. This letter confirms that at our Regular Board meeting held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, the HSA Board of Directors approved the Final Reopening Plan. Horizon Science Academy Dayton Downtown will begin the 2020-2021 school year in a completely virtual learning environment for all students in grades K through 8. The first day of school is scheduled for August 17, 2020. Our staff has been very busy preparing for our reopening and we miss our students! We will operate in a completely virtual learning

Environment through at least the first quarter, which is Monday,  August 17 through Friday, October 16. Each student will be given a Chromebook or iPad to be used for online learning. Students who do not have access to the internet or low bandwidth will be given a hot spot with unlimited data to be used for remote learning at home. Both hotspots and Chromebooks are given at no cost to the student unless the parent decides to purchase insurance on the items for damage or lost devices. I want to thank you for continued support, your understanding and cooperation during these challenging times. Educationally Yours,

Murat Efe

Superintendent
