Dear Horizon Families,
We are committed to provide safe and secure environment. Per our Policy #31, we are required semiannually provide the president(s) of the district board(s) a written summary of all reported incidents and post the summary on our school Web site. The list shall be limited to the number of verified acts of harassment, intimidation and bullying, whether in the classroom, on school property, to and from school, or at school-sponsored events.
During the 2015-2016 school year there were 8 verified incidents in violation of the Anti HIB policy. All verified incidents were promptly resolved and when necessary, disciplinary actions deemed were issued. Of these incidents one was via internet/social media, one was outside of the school building, and the remaining six were in the classrooms. Our mission, however, is to provide all students with the behavior and academic skills necessary to reach their fullest potential intellectually, emotionally, and physically. In order to do so we must and will continue to ensure a safe environment conducive to learning with the following student rights set as top priorities: the ability to feel safe in the school environment free of bullying, threatening, harassment, or intimidation, in order to take full advantage of the learning opportunities free from disruptions; so that all students are able to express their opinions, ideas, thoughts, and concerns through the proper forum and with the proper level of respect.
